Okay, I spent most of my free time today trying to edit and upload a few movies of Gracie to YouTube, but I think that the server is overloaded because it's all blocky and the sound is off by a few seconds. I tried about six different video formats before I thought to check other people's videos... and they are all blocky/distorted, too. So I'll keep trying, or try and just upload them here on my server.

I also downloaded some photos off my camera, and here's a photo of the latest scrapbook layout I did. It's my first layout in about six weeks, and it's of Gracie's Giving and Receiving while she was in Vietnam.

It took me a while to figure out what the heck I wanted to do. It's sort of a mish-mash of stuff. I dunno what I think about it. I always see so many ideas I like, and I have some great supplies, but when I sit down to scrap, I get overwhelmed. I'm trying to let myself be a little more free with style and embellishments, but it's hard when I come from some a rigidly simple graphic design background.

Giving and Receiving Layout

Giving and Receiving Layout

I guess I should explain what supplies I used... DCWV/SEI/Bazzill papers; Heidi Swapp letters ("Giving and Receiving"), ribbon, tape, chipboard flowers, and jewels; the big monograms ("G R") are cut out of paper- I traced some of my Basic Grey chipboard for that. The flowers are sort of my trademark/favorite technique- I punch several layers out using a punch, distress them, and then attach them to the page with a brad in the center and then use a needle tool to "fluff" them up. I gotta admit, the whole silk flower thing on pages isn't for me- it looks great, but I grew up with a LOT of silk plants and I sort of have an aversion to fake plants and flowers, which is why I make mine out of paper.

Off to feed the management... uh, baby.

You're pages are super cute! I love the more simple designs vs being crowded.

You are a great scrapper. I spent the weekend scrapping and you gave me some great ideas. Good work. I especially like the paper corners (I know that's not the correct name). The pink ones, they are so cute.

Chel (pronounced "shell"). 33. Mama to Gracie. Artist. Friend. Adoptive parent. Scrapbooker (not a very good one, at that). Long distance swimmer. Animal rescuer. Wife. Beader maker. Vegetarian. Rubber stamp collector.

Why the change? This new face of gingerblue.com is the culmination of three online journals/blog (the adoption blog, the baby blog, the art blog), plus the personal web page I have been maintaining since 1995. Here you'll find updates on Gracie, updates on my jewelry making, what I have going on in my art studio, and what's going on with life in general.
